Lights Up

Rule of thumb – I hate two parters.  Especially two parters I have to wait months for the resolution.  I try to remember
when I'm writing about these old ones how I felt watching it the first time and try to look at each episode from a fresh
point of view.  I remember hating the wait for this one.  A whole summer of wishful thinking with Fred collapsing in that
elevator down the fricken tubes.

The riot gear, the fires, the screaming – a very scary beginning.  I didn't watch "Blackout" before I watched this, but it's
amazing how much I remember.  What's interesting is that "Blackout" was filmed before September 11, but wasn't aired
until the end of the season.  Just think - it was almost the season opener.  We almost got season four a year early.

I do wonder since Faith had no trouble getting out of the elevator after Fred's heart attack, why she hadn't done so before
hand.  I seem to recall them talking about it.  And how precious does Bosco look in his little riot gear hat.

Davis – I'm surprised you manage to find your way to the precinct each day.  Runs off ALONE in the middle of a riot.
Stupidest move from Officer Ty since "Welcome to Camelot".

Bosco the bulldog – "get back to work" wasn't good enough for him.  You can see the panic on Bosco's face, but he
turns it off for Charlie.  He's such a good Uncle B.

Emily:  The address is in the kitchen.  Do you want me to get it or should I go play?

Neighbor:  She's becoming very precocious.

Bosco:  Attitude?  I wonder which onea her parents that comes from.

*snicker* Classic TW a laugh in the middle of tragedy.  I like how they cut from one story to the next so that we know
what's happening every minute with all of Camelot.  55Charlie helping the best they can, 55David separated and not liking
it, Doc and Carlos fighting – a perfect set up.

Sully's bitterness is tenfold right now.  He's not the same cuddly Sully who married Tatiana.

Faith carrying Fred – I bet he's not upset about her being a cop now.  She had some office job, she wouldn't have been
able to do that.  And Bosco to the rescue!  Dumbass, yeah Fred woulda died, but Faith would have gotten over it.
Okay, can we say shipper?  Sorry.

Ty and the mystery chic and Sully the surly.  The people they save are the Chief of Patrol and his mistress.  How
incredibly plot twisty.  Then we find out the mistress has been raped.  Twisty plot twist.

Now, my shipper colored glasses see Bosco wanting Fred to be okay for Faith, but wanting Fred not to be okay for him.
I love how he gets the whole story before he follows to take care of his partner.  Poor conflicted Bosco.

The scene between Bosco and Faith in the waiting area is classic Faith.  She lashes out hurting others when she can't
handle what's going on.  Everyone thinks Bosco was hurt by what she said because he stands there nodding.  He stands
there nodding because he's known her for ten years and he knows how she handles things.  He knew she didn't mean any
of it, but he also knew she needed to vent on somebody.  It probably wasn't the first time she'd done that and we know it
wasn't the last.

Some of it, yeah, probably got through because others had said something similar to him that day – like the part about him
arresting everybody.  He knows he's not useless.  If he were useless, Faith would still be screaming outside that office
building and Fred would be dead.  So yes, he does think a little harder about himself after what she said, but no, she
didn't devastate him like has been written in fan fic after fan fic.  He's more mad at her than hurt, but he can put that aside.

When he pulls her into his arms and holds her while she cries – that's the perfect moment.  Whatta ya mean he didn't do
that?  I saw him do that.  Yes, I live in a dream world, but they like me here.

On a side note – hey, Dr. Dumbass, the nurse does not have a magic wand.  She cannot conjure help just because you
demand it of her.

Emily is so incredibly Faith.  She gets all the facts, then takes charge.  What's fabulous and why I love him so very much is
that Bosco just automatically follows her instructions the same way he would if Faith had told him to do something.
*sigh*  So sweet.

Now that Faith has vented on Bosco, she's repentant.  She's embarrassed seeing Mary, but Mary is so awesome.  I love
Mary.  We need more Mary moments.  When I worked in the hospital, I knew a "Mary."  That one person who could
see through the action to the emotion behind it and forgive before it was even asked of her.

I love the awkward moment with Faith, the kids and Bosco.  It reminds me of "The Greater Good" when they're in the
locker room and neither of them can get out that they missed each other.  "Love means never having to say you're sorry."
*wipes tear*

Then when Bosco leaves, it's obvious that Faith and Emily have switched roles.  Sadly Emily is more Charlie's mom than
Faith right then.  Em has a future in Child Development and Psychology.  I know a great school for that.  Go Boilers.

Four seasons in, Ty still hasn't lost his wide-eyed innocent slant on police work.  I can't believe Ty can't see that leaving
the mistress where the wife could see her would cause pain for everyone involved.

I don't get why Faith is so angry about Emily bringing things for Fred from home.  Those things were more for Emily than
Fred.  I remember when I was a kid, I would sneak playing cards into the hospital for my grandpa even though he
couldn't pick them up.  It made me feel better for him to have them there because I'd never seen him without them.  My
grandpa taught me how to cheat at any number of card games before the age of five.  Blackjack, anyone?

And here we are back with Ty who's currently working on his Damsel In Distress patch.  Poor Ty.

Faith and Child Development and Psychology – not so much.  She's under a lot of pressure and we know Emily had to
learn it from somewhere, but damn, Faith, he's just a baby.

Hey!  Carlos and Doc!  Oh my gosh!  How did I miss this the first time around!  I didn't remember them getting up in
each others' faces.  I cannot BELIEVE Doc's low blow about Kylie!  I cannot BELIEVE Carlos saying Doc wasn't good
enough to move up!  I also cannot believe Carlos making the jerk off motion with his hand at Doc when he said
"Whatever."  Doc was being selfish.

What's great is that the Doc and Carlos interaction was exactly what would have happened if Bosco hadn't stood there an
nodded when Faith went off on him.

Ty the Hero.  How many times has he been in the paper as the hero?

Poor Sully.  He really does love Tatiana, but he can't let go of the past.

Sully:  This is not the kind of thing you want to get too involved in.

Ty:  Thanks, Dad, but I'm good.

*snicker*  I think Maggie and Sul should have made it official long ago.

Poor Bosco is so very sleepy.  I think he may finally realize that if he arrests tons of people, he has to do tons of
paperwork.  A moment of growth for my baby.  I just wish they'd hired Latrell Griffith as a permanent medic instead of
Grace in season five.  See some of what she said soaked through, but it wasn't hurtful.  They can yell at each other like
that because they know what to accept and what to let pass in one ear and out the other.  It's a beautiful dynamic for
those with the ability to pull it off.

And now for something completely different – what a dirty bathroom!  Geez!

Wow!  What an episode.  It had it all.  Riots, intrigue, life, death, love – unfortunately we didn't have a loss.  Why'd ya
have to drive his butt to the hospital?  For the love of you what were you thinking, Bosco?!?

To Recap

Two parters suck
Ty, couple more seasons and you'll be able to sew that D.I.D patch on your sash.
